In 1996, the Conservancies Association of Namibia (CANAM) was established with the assistance and invaluable input of officials of the MET as well as Mr. Hanekom. and other individuals. CANAM was established ideally to represent all conservancies in Namibia, be they situated in rural or non-rural areas, in communal areas or on commercial farmland.
