The Devil’s Claw is a perennial creeper with trailing stems of about 750mm but occasionally reaching 1500mm.

Of at least two species, the one most sought after grows in the Sandveld. This species contains high levels of Harpagosides and is harvested sustainably in the Sandveld Conservancy.
